Expert Terrace Waterproofing Solutions In Hyderabad

Many terrace leakage problems begin long before water becomes visible inside a building. Continuous exposure to sunlight, rainwater, moisture, and temperature fluctuations creates stress within terrace flooring systems. Over time, cracks develop, moisture penetrates the slab, screed layers weaken, and the waterproofing system begins to fail.

Why It Matters

Why Terrace Waterproofing Is Critical For Long-Term Building Protection

Terraces are continuously exposed to sunlight, rainwater, moisture, and temperature fluctuations, making them one of the most vulnerable areas of any building. If terrace waterproofing systems are not properly installed or maintained, cracks may develop, water can penetrate the slab, and waterproofing failures can gradually lead to serious structural problems. Common warning signs such as hollow sound flooring, terrace de-bonding, surface cracks, and recurring seepage often indicate that moisture has already entered the terrace system.

SV Projects provides engineering-based terrace waterproofing and structural restoration services in Hyderabad, designed to address hollow sound flooring, terrace de-bonding, cracks, seepage, and recurring waterproofing failures.

Engineering Process

Engineering Process For Terrace Waterproofing

Delivering long-term terrace waterproofing requires more than simply applying a waterproof coating.

Step 1

Inspection & Assessment

Tap the terrace with a hammer to identify hollow areas. Hollow sound indicates damaged or detached substrate that requires repair.

Step 2

Surface Preparation

Chip hollow portions, jet wash the surface, and remove dust and fungus. Cut cracks with a machine and complete crack filling.

Step 3

Waterproofing Coats

Apply the first coat using Hydroproof Xtra mixed with cement. Sprinkle sand on the first coat, then apply the second coat and complete angle fillet work.

Step 4

Flooring & Protection Layer

After drying, pour SBR Latex liquid and lay the cement flooring. Mix Conplast WL into the flooring cement for added waterproofing performance.

Step 5

Final Finish & Maintenance

Where no hollow sound is found, only jet washing, crack treatment, and Roof Guard coating are needed. After about one year, Roof Guard can be reapplied for extra protection.

Technologies

Advanced Terrace Waterproofing & Restoration Systems Used

SV Projects uses engineering-based restoration systems designed to address hollow sound flooring, terrace de-bonding, cracks, seepage, and long-term waterproofing failures. Our solutions are selected based on terrace condition, structural requirements, and the root cause of leakage.

System 01

M20 Fiber Reinforced Screed System

Weak and deteriorated terrace flooring is replaced with high-strength M20 grade fiber-reinforced screed containing 10 mm aggregate. This system improves durability, crack resistance, structural stability, and long-term performance under varying weather conditions.

System 02

SBR Bonding Technology

A high-performance SBR bonding agent is applied between the structural slab and new screed layer to create a strong chemical bond. This helps prevent future de-bonding, improves adhesion, and enhances the overall durability of the terrace restoration system.

System 03

Advanced Waterproof Coating Systems

Premium waterproofing solutions such as Fosroc Roof Guard and Dr. Fixit Raincoat are used to protect terraces from water penetration, seepage, moisture intrusion, and environmental exposure. These systems provide long-term waterproofing performance and weather resistance.

System 04

Fiber Mesh Glass Reinforcement

Fiber Mesh Glass reinforcement is installed beneath waterproof coatings where additional protection is required. This system improves crack resistance, thermal stability, coating durability, and overall waterproofing performance, especially on terraces exposed to severe weather conditions.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is hollow sound flooring on a terrace?

Hollow sound flooring occurs when the terrace screed layer separates from the structural slab beneath. When the surface is tapped, it produces a hollow sound, indicating terrace de-bonding and potential waterproofing failure.

2. What causes hollow sound flooring on a terrace?

The most common causes include poor bonding between layers, improper surface preparation, low-strength screed, thermal expansion stress, and the absence of proper bonding agents such as SBR.

3. What is terrace de-bonding?

Terrace de-bonding is the separation of the terrace flooring or screed layer from the mother slab. Once de-bonding occurs, water can accumulate beneath the flooring and eventually cause leakage, cracks, and structural deterioration.

4. How do I know if my terrace requires restoration instead of simple waterproofing?

If your terrace has hollow sound flooring, weak screed, widespread cracking, water trapped beneath the flooring, or recurring leakage despite previous repairs, complete restoration may be required rather than surface waterproofing alone.

5. Why does terrace flooring crack over time?

Terrace flooring cracks due to continuous expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes, poor-quality materials, improper mix design, structural movement, and long-term environmental exposure.

6. What is M20 fiber-reinforced screed?

M20 fiber-reinforced screed is a high-strength concrete layer containing cement, sand, 10 mm aggregate, and reinforcing fibers. It offers better durability, crack resistance, and long-term performance compared to traditional low-grade screeds.

7. Why is M20 screed better than traditional terrace flooring?

M20 screed provides higher compressive strength, improved crack resistance, better durability, and superior performance under weather exposure compared to low-strength sand-cement screeds commonly used in older terraces.

8. What is SBR bonding and why is it important?

SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) is a bonding agent used to create a strong chemical bond between the existing slab and the new screed layer. It helps prevent future de-bonding and improves overall structural performance.

9. Why is proper surface preparation important before waterproofing?

Dust, fungus, algae, and contaminants prevent proper bonding between materials. High-pressure cleaning and surface preparation help create a strong foundation for long-lasting waterproofing performance.

10. What are control joints and why are they required?

Control joints are engineered grooves created in the terrace screed to safely manage thermal expansion and contraction. They help reduce uncontrolled cracking and improve the lifespan of the terrace system.

11. What waterproofing materials does SV Projects use?

Depending on the terrace condition and project requirements, we use proven waterproofing systems such as Fosroc Roof Guard, Dr. Fixit Raincoat, SBR bonding agents, fiber-reinforced screeds, and Fiber Mesh Glass reinforcement systems.

12. What is Fiber Mesh Glass reinforcement?

Fiber Mesh Glass is an additional reinforcement layer installed beneath waterproof coatings. It helps improve crack resistance, thermal stability, waterproofing durability, and overall system performance.

13. What happens if terrace leakage is ignored?

Ignoring terrace leakage can lead to water seepage, damp walls, peeling paint, reinforcement corrosion, structural deterioration, and significantly higher repair costs in the future.

14. How long does terrace waterproofing last?

The lifespan depends on the waterproofing system used, terrace condition, application quality, and maintenance. Professionally installed systems can provide long-term protection, with selected solutions offering warranty coverage of up to 7 years.
